Daniel Brown triumphs.
The winner of the 36th BMW International Open is Daniel Brown. The 30-year-old Englishman celebrated his second victory on the DP World Tour in Munich with rounds of 70, 65, 65, and 66 strokes, achieving a total score of 266 (22 under par). Brown is the eighth Englishman to win Germany's iconic tournament since its inception in 1989.
Thrilling duel.
It was a spectacular birdie showdown that thrilled fans during the final round, as the two English friends Daniel Brown and Jordan Smith put on a show. Smith, who started Sunday one stroke behind, closed the gap with five birdies on the front nine. Brown responded with four birdies of his own and, unlike Smith, made no mistakes on the back nine, securing the title in style.
Passion and Joy.
The 36th BMW International Open once again impressively demonstrated how well tradition and innovation, top performance and driving pleasure, as well as golf and BMW, go hand in hand: world-class sports on the greens and fairways, complemented by a diverse support programme and a unique feel-good atmosphere.
Schmid and Wiedemeyer impress fans.
Although the second German victory after Martin Kaymer's triumph in 2008 did not materialise, Matti Schmid and Tim Wiedemeyer particularly stood out at their home tournament. Schmid finished as the best German, tied for seventh place with 15 under par, while amateur Wiedemeyer (-12) impressed in a world-class field, securing a tied 17th place.
€73,000 for "Eagles for Education."
For each of the 73 eagles scored, the BMW Group donated €1,000 to the Philipp Lahm Foundation for Sport and Education. The shared goal is to equip children and young people with skills in the areas of physical activity, nutrition, and personal development. This marks the third time the BMW Group has supported equal opportunities through "Eagles for Education" at the BMW International Open.
A celebration of Monster Drives.
It was long, it was loud, it was spectacular. On Saturday evening, the 18th green in front of the main grandstand transformed into a long-drive arena. During "Launch Control," top-tier long-drivers competed in an adrenaline-charged show match. The audience cheered for a unique golfing experience, which German world champion Martin Borgmeier won with the longest drive of the evening (425 metres).
Munich in golf fever.
Germany's only tournament on the DP World Tour remains a crowd-puller. A total of 58,000 visitors attended the 36th BMW International Open, with 17,500 fans flocking to Golfclub München Eichenried on the final Sunday alone.
