BMW International Open 2025.

Players

2026 BMW International Open.

Martin Kaymer.

Martin Kaymer still holds two records at the BMW International Open. He is the only German winner and the youngest champion in the history of the tournament. The two-time major winner was just 23 years and 177 days old when he tasted victory in Munich in 2008. That is not the only reason the event is one of Kaymer’s favourites. He says: “I am always grateful and, as a German, proud that we have such a great event. It is a great pleasure to come here.”

Stephan Jäger.

In July 2025, Stephan Jäger was all set to return to the BMW International Open at the place he grew up and learned to play golf. The 36-year-old plays on the PGA TOUR and lives in the USA with his family. However, his homecoming at the 2025 BMW International Open was prevented by a very joyful event: the birth of Jäger’s second son. This time, there is nothing standing in the way, and the man with one tournament win to his name on the PGA TOUR is hugely looking forward to teeing off at the 2026 tournament.

Matti Schmid.

Although he was not born quite as close to Golfclub München Eichenried as Jäger, the BMW International Open is still a home tournament for Matti Schmid from the Upper Palatinate region. The 28-year-old is firmly established on the PGA TOUR and is currently the best-placed German in the world rankings. Schmid was also the top home-grown player at the 2025 BMW International Open, when he finished tied in seventh place, and can hardly wait for another crack at the title: “The atmosphere was mega all week. I hope everyone returns.” Schmid himself is leading by example in that regard: he will tee off again in Munich in 2026.
