AN EAGLE FOR ETERNITY.
The 37th BMW International Open at Golfclub München Eichenried concluded with the nerve-racking final round that had been building from the very first day. The total of 58,000 golf fans witnessed not only world-class golf throughout the week, but also an intense four-day battle for one of the most coveted titles on the DP World Tour. In the end, it was South Africa’s Michael Hollick who stepped onto the 18th tee in the final group of the day trailing his compatriot Hennie du Plessis by one stroke, with the tournament outcome in his own hands. To win, the 39-year-old DP World Tour rookie needed an eagle - and he delivered. It was the 57th eagle of the week, meaning the BMW Group will support the Philipp Lahm Foundation for Sport and Education with a donation of €57,000 to help children in the areas of physical activity, healthy nutrition and personal development.
With a total score of 270 strokes (18 under par), Hollick claimed his first victory on the DP World Tour. The runner-up, du Plessis, had also been seeking his maiden title and had appeared on course for victory for much of Sunday. He did not drop a shot until the 17th hole (par 3), but a bogey there, followed by a par on the 18th, left him in second place on 17-under despite posting the best round of the day (-6, 66). Austria’s Bernd Wiesberger finished third on 14-under, followed by Mexico’s Carlos Ortiz and France’s Oihan Guillamoundeguy (both 12-under). One shot further back, Munich native Thomas Rosenmüller completed his home tournament as the best-placed German in sixth place.
Among the 13 German players in the field, Freddy Schott (-7, T16), Nicolai von Dellingshausen, Matti Schmid (both -6, T23) and Finn Kölle (-5, T30) also made the weekend. The 23-year-old amateur will not forget the 37th BMW International Open anytime soon, nor will the golf fans who witnessed this memorable tournament week. They will not have to wait as long as usual for the next edition, as the BMW International Open will return from 26 - 30 May next year at Golfclub München Eichenried.
It's incredible. To win such a prestigious tournament as a rookie on the DP World Tour at the age of 39 is simply unbelievable. Some outstanding South African golfers have won the BMW International Open before me, so I couldn't be happier. I'd also like to thank BMW for putting on this event year after year. The way they look after us throughout the entire week is phenomenal. We get to drive amazing cars, we're exceptionally well taken care of, and we get to compete at a fantastic venue. I can only say thank you to BMW for everything.
CHARITY.
Once again this year, the BMW Group is partnering with the Philipp Lahm Foundation for Sport and Education as part of the BMW International Open, supporting the foundation in organising the Philipp Lahm Summer Camps with a donation of 1,000 euros for every eagle scored, as well as providing on-site support through BMW ambassadors.
“Together with the BMW Group, we are working to empower children for the future and for their lives. Children have their whole lives ahead of them – and they are our future,” said Lahm. “Our aim is to provide them with support in three areas: physical activity, healthy eating and personal development.”
2026 HOLE-IN-ONE CAR.
No player managed to score an ace on the 17th hole this year, so the special prize offered for it did not find a new owner: the new BMW X5 M60e xDrive, a plug-in hybrid with BMW Motorsport DNA.

LAUNCH CONTROL.
It was a long, loud and spectacular affair. On Saturday, following the third round of the 37th BMW International Open, the grandstand was transformed into a long-drive arena. In what was now the third edition of “Launch Control”, the 2022 long drive world champion, Martin Borgmeier (GER), and his team took on the squad led by reigning world champion Zack Holton (USA) in an adrenaline-fuelled exhibition match.
The line-up included long-drive specialists Cassandra Meyer and Abby Marting, as well as Bryce Verplank and Bobby “Long Way” Ray (all USA). YouTube star Brad Dalke (USA) also jumped at the chance to take part in this competition, having already made the cut at the 37th BMW International Open with flying colours.
